Philip Ó Ceallaigh has written over fifty short stories, most of which are gathered in his three collections; Notes from a Turkish Whorehouse, The Pleasant Light of Day and Trouble. His fiction, essays and criticism have appeared widely, including in Granta, The LA Review of Books and The Dublin Review. He is also a translator, most notably for his Penguin Classics translation of Mihail Sebastian’s interwar novel For Two Thousand Years. He has received the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature, among other awards. His first novel, A Short History of Salvation, is forthcoming. He lives in Bucharest.
