LLA is currently closed for submissions. We will open again on 1st December for literary and upmarket fiction and selected non-fiction projects.
We do not represent children’s, illustrated or commercial non-fiction.
We are always actively seeking new talent, fresh perspectives, and original voices. We take pride in discovering and nurturing new work, and while we can’t acknowledge receipt we do read every submission made to us. We try to read within three months, but may take much longer in busy periods and sometimes it’s not possible for us to respond. If you haven’t heard from us within 3 months you should assume your project is not a fit for us at this time. Given the time it takes us to get to new submissions, we do encourage you to contact other agencies at the same time.

If you have been referred to an agent by a trade or personal contact do say in your letter. Please make sure that your material is typeset so as to be clearly legible. Please remember to include your name and a contact number and email address on the first page of your manuscript.

We also discourage you from using AI-powered tools in the editing of your work (with the exception of word processing tools such as spelling and grammar checks), and ask that you disclose to us where AI has been used for purposes of research or for the creation of additional materials, such as images or diagrams.
