Katie Hale is the author of two novels: My Name is Monster (Canongate, 2019); and The Edge of Solitude (Canongate, 2024), which won a Northern Writers’ Award and SLF Gulliver Travel Grant. Her debut poetry collection, White Ghosts, received a Northern Debut Award. She is a former MacDowell Fellow and Hawthornden Fellow, and has held Writer in Residence positions across three continents. She is twice winner of the Fool for Poetry Chapbook Prize, and her other accolades include the ALCS Tom-Gallon Trust Award, the Aesthetica Prize, and the Palette Poetry Prize. She also works with the Writing Squad to mentor emerging writers.
