| Kevin Barry's brilliant story 'Beer Trip to Llandudno' has won the £30,000 prize. Described by Melvyn Bragg as full of 'wit pathos and great energy' and by Hanif Kureishi as 'an astonishing story that is both daringly original and full of heart', the story beat off competition from five other shortlisted titles. Barry collected the award at a dinner hosted by Corpus Christi on Friday 30th March, praising the quality of the work from fellow shortlistees and thanking The Sunday Times and EFG Private Bank for the generosity of the prize. |
